Fish for Change

An incredible opportunity for a high schooler to experience a life-changing fishing trip

Recalling back to my days as a high school student, I would’ve given the world to be able to go on a fishing trip of a lifetime. Creating change through fly fishing is eventually where my life took me, but it was until much, much later.

Education about the natural world is a critical component of Fish for Change’s programs

While I was able to ignite this passion on the South Fork of the Flathead in the Bob Marshall Wilderness with my father as my graduation present, it didn’t quite have the same meaning for the larger angling community as this opportunity.

One lucky student

Fish for Change creates an immersive fly fishing experience for young adults to experience a deep bond with the natural world. Students engage in education, conservation, cultural exchange and community-building all through a fly fishing lens.

To help get students to Mexico, Honduras, the Bahamas or Costa Rica, Bajio partnered with Fish for Change to help create a scholarship to assist with costs. Bajio’s Temples of Change frames took the proceeds from each pair of shades sold to cache away enough funding to sponsor a young angler and send them on a trip of a lifetime.

One student will have the opportunity to attend a 2025 summer program at one of the four destinations. This student will reap the benefits of an international, immersive fly fishing experience with other like-minded anglers. By applying by April 1st (no fool’s joke here), Bajio’s team will review all applications and pick a deserving candidate.

Planting mangroves is just part of the immersive experience for these young adults

How you can help

By purchasing a pair of Bajio’s Temples for Change limited edition Vega sunglasses, you’ll not only get the clarity of Bajio’s lenses, but also custom permit artwork on the frames created by fishing guide and tattoo artist, Casey Anderson. And of course, $20 from every purchase will go to Fish for Change to help fund these youth scholarships.

What could be better than that? I’d say it’s a win-win for everyone. Don’t forget to tell your favorite high school fishing addict about this incredible opportunity and have them apply today. They’ll thank you all while making the world a better place for all.
