TU’s Veterans Service Partnership helped 4,000 veterans on the on the water in 2017.
Sunday is Veterans Day. This day is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended World War I hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918. Veterans are thanked for their services to the United States on Veterans Day, and Trout Unlimited and TU’s Veterans Service Partnership wish to thank our veterans for their service to our country and for the sacrifice they have made to protect the freedoms we all enjoy.
The TU VSP is a TU initiative under TU Volunteer Operations to serve our nation’s military family, all veterans, those with and without disabilities, active duty military, and their spouses and families. The TU VSP utilizes fishing for trout and related activities to invite veterans and their families into the TU chapter community with a goal to engage them as volunteers for TU’s coldwater conservation work and for our various initiatives such as the TU VSP, Youth Education, Women’s Initiative and the Diversity Initiative. Military training teaches placing the mission first and never accepting defeat, and TU welcomes veterans to serve TU’s conservation mission.
More than 200 of TU’s 400-plus chapters run some type of veteran’s program, and in 2017 TU’s Annual Financial Reporting showed here were 682 chapter-run VSP events serving nearly 4,000 American veterans across the country. TU wishes to thank our veterans and our TU members who are veterans for their service and sacrifice. Sunday, be sure to thank those veterans you know and encounter for their service to our nation.
