We’ve all heard stories about the healing power of water and fly fishing. At Trout Unlimited, our chapters and volunteers devote significant resources to helping physically and emotionally wounded veterans heal from the horrors of war.
But it’s more than that. Ask any die-hard fly fisher why they fish, and, after getting through all the pablum … the talk of big trout, or wild water or having fun with the kids, and you’ll find that there’s always a foundational answer that goes something like this: “It’s good for my soul.”
Above, in the trailer for “From Bigotry to Brook Trout,” you’ll witness a man’s transformation from someone he wasn’t proud of to someone with introspection and a better, more productive life.
Fishing gave him those things. Brook trout helped bring a lost life into better focus. Because fishing really is good for your soul.
