As Miller notes, if your fly rod is your truck, your fly line, leader and tippet are your tires. Check them first. Clean them. Make sure they’re in good shape for the coming summer. You’ll have more fun—and more success—if you’ve done your due dilligence and ensured your line, leader and tippet are ready to connect you to trout.
