We’ve showed several of Tim Flagler’s videos over the last few weeks on tying in parachute posts—there are several methods that he has demonstrated to make this somewhat complicated method a little bit easier. Now, it’s just up to you to find the method that works best for you. For me, I’m a fan of the 90-degree method.
But what about finishing that post with hackle? Are there just as many ways to finish a parachute dry fly with hackle as there are to tie in the posts? Probably, yes. Above, Flagler demonstrates a good method for finishing off the hackle for a traditional parachute dry fly. It looks easy, but it will take some practice to really master. See what you think.
