The first trout introduced to the Southern Hemisphere weren’t brought to New Zealand. Or Argentina or Chile. Or South Africa. They were brought to the mountainous, maritime island off the south coast of Australia: Tasmania.
Todd Moen captures just some of the beauty of Tasmania in his new film on fly fishing for the island’s now-naturalized brown trout in both small, mountain streams and shallow high-country lakes. It’s a beautiful province of Australia, and home to some of the most unique creatures on the planet.
And, if the video is any proof, the fishing is really, really good.
