Fly tying: SBR Light Cahill Nymph

Fly fishers on the East Coast are likely familiar with Cahill nymph patterns. From the Housatonic to the Delaware, the Cahill patterns, both nymph and dry, are go-to flies in the late spring and summer.

Above, Tim Flagler ties his version of the SBR (South Branch Raritan) Light Cahill Nymph, a fly he swears by this time of year. It’s not super-easy pattern to tie, but with practice, it can be tied economically. The end result, though, is absolutely beautiful. And, as Tim points out, this fly is a must-have in Eastern fly boxes. It really works.
