About Us

Big Trout Brewing is a locally owned and operated brew pub offering a wide selection of craft beers, tasty bites and a comfortable environment.

We began planning our own brewery in the spring of 2017, with the passion for brewing delicious beer, and the desire to give something back to Grand County and provide for our growing family. As we dove into the business plan and started tossing around names, Tom was walking into daycare with our daughter, who was 2 years old at the time, and asked “What do you think about Trout Brewery?” To this, our budding angler responded, without hesitation, “No daddy, BIG Trout Brewery.” And so, it was.

The brewery features a High Efficiency Brew System (HEBS), which offers several environmental and operational efficiencies. We are passionate about our environmental footprint, especially as avid anglers living at the headwaters of the Colorado River, leading us to invest in this state-of-the-art system. The HEBS allows Big Trout to reduce our water waste by up to 30% and increase the extraction rate to about 98%, using 10% less grain per batch. This allows us to make an impact on our surrounding environment while brewing delicious beer in the process!

What we do

We specialize in delicious craft beers, brewed on site with our state-of-the-art High Efficiency Brew System. We also offer a variety of tasty bites, including a kids menu, as well as wine and spirits for the non-beer-lover who may accompany you. We offer both indoor and outdoor dining, with a heated patio and a fire pit out front. We have a strong focus on the community, offering up quarterly donations to various local nonprofits and charities, through the sales of our Rick Stout.
