About Us

Located in Historic Grandin Village, Roanoke Angler Fly Shop is the only guide-owned and operated full-service fly shop serving the greater Roanoke area. After years of noticing the lack of an independently owned shop in Roanoke, Jay Waide decided to fill the void and open Roanoke Angler in 2023.

Dedicated to providing customers with the best guides, gear and a welcoming atmosphere–just minutes from the Roanoke River and central to the James and New Rivers–Roanoke Angler is the hometown fly shop for everyone. The fly shop is proud to carry top end equipment from G. Loomis, Simms, Temple Fork Outfitters, Redington, Galvan, Rio, Scientific Anglers, Fishpond, Montana Fly Company and many others.

Based out of Roanoke, VA—Roanoke Angler operates fully licensed and insured guide trips on the South Holston River, Watauga River, Smith River, Roanoke River, New River, James River as well as a number of small streams.
