To say that 2020 has been a challenging year would be an understatement.
But perhaps what the year has provided us is an opportunity to reflect on what’s really important.
What matters to all of us? Family and friends. Fishing, hunting and outdoor adventures. Our public lands and waters. These places give us so much, and we need to fight to protect them. But we can’t do it alone. We need strong partnerships to amplify our voices in order to reach the people who make decisions when it comes to how our lands and waters are taken care of.
More and more, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers and Trout Unlimited are working together in common cause, and that’s why BHA CEO Land Tawney and TU President and CEO Chris Wood have crafted a request that’s a bit out of the ordinary.
Wood is urging you, as a member and supporter of Trout Unlimited, to join Backcountry Hunters & Anglers today. Tawney is making the same request of BHA members — we want to welcome them to Trout Unlimited, and help make our combined voices as sportsmen and women even stronger.
TU and BHA are rooted in common values. That’s why Wood and Tawney are life members of each other’s organizations. Both are passionate about caring for and recovering the places they fish, hunt, live and love. Native and wild trout fisheries and backcountry lands and waters matter to all members of both organizations. Headwater streams on our wildest roadless lands matter to all conservation-minded anglers and hunters. From protecting Bristol Bay in Alaska and the Blackfoot in Montana to uniting in support of the Clean Water Act and the Great American Outdoors Act, BHA and TU are already working together. And the two organizations are stronger for it.
But now is the time to double down on our joint efforts.
Let’s work together to conserve special places for the common good — settings for cherished experiences that define us and lift us up during these challenging times.
