In 2019, we saw huge successes and persisting challenges in our efforts to stop the proposed Pebble mine. Despite delivering over 685,000 public comments opposing Pebble and the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and moving Senator Murkowski to see the fast-tracked nature of the permit review process, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to push Pebble toward becoming a reality in Bristol Bay. In the first six months of 2020, the Corps is scheduled to issue Pebble’s most important federal permit.
Put simply, we have a short window to urge decision makers at all levels to deny this permit. Then, we’ll work together to stop the proposed Pebble mine altogether in 2020.
While continuing to write and call our Senators is the most important thing we can do right now to stop Pebble, supporting the Save Bristol Bay coalition financially gives us a huge boost in our coordinated and strategic efforts to halt this mine proposal. Rep Your Water. Caps that give back: Rep Your Water’s No Pebble Mine hat donates 50% of the proceeds to sportsmen’s efforts to stop Pebble.
Salmon Sisters. Partnering with Rep Your Water, commercial fishing sisters Emma Teal Laukitis and Claire Neaton have created gear inspired by their experiences fishing Bristol Bay waters. 1% of proceeds from their hats are donated to the Save Bristol Bay campaign.
We Buy Gold. Don’t be confused by their name. Our friends on the East Coast have created a special Save Bristol Bay pennant that would hang well in a college dorm room or your fly shop walls. Net proceeds from the pennant are being returned to Trout Unlimited’s efforts to stop Pebble.
BlackStrap. For your next adventure, grab a No Pebble mine neck tube that will keep you warm, and also tell your fellow outdoor enthusiasts that you support Bristol Bay. All proceeds from this item are donated to the Save Bristol Bay campaign.
