We are looking for a few good volunteers to help us and our partners with the Flat Creek project on the National Elk Refuge – next Wednesday, June 21st from 1 to 5 pm. Volunteers will help plant willow poles on the Flat Creek project reach within a fenced exclosure that is protected from browsing by elk – which will allow riparian vegetation to re-establish on the banks of the stream and provide bank stability, cooler water, and overhead cover.
To sign up to volunteer and for additional details, please contact Leslie Steen, Snake River Headwaters Project Manager, at lsteen@tu.org or 307-699-1022.
Another volunteer opportunity is available next Monday and Tuesday, June 19th and 20th, at the Jackson National Fish Hatchery with our partners at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. They will be clipping fins on Snake River cutthroat trout bound for Palisades Reservoir from 9am to 5pm. If you are interested, you can volunteer for as many or as few hours as you would like. Contact Diana Miller, Fisheries Biologist, at diana.miller@wyo.gov or 733-2321 to sign up.
