Smith essay in Braided

It’s fun to edit the magazine and website for Trout Unlimited, because we get to work with many skilled authors and photographers from around the world. But sometimes, I am amazed by the talent we have among our own staff.

The latest case in point is a wonderful essay by TU’s vice president for volunteer operations, Beverly Smith, which appears on the “Braided” website. Titled “Learning to Slow Down,” https://www.braidedflyfish.com/women-in-beverly-smith/ it is one of the most honest, heartfelt and eloquent pieces on motherhood and fly fishing I have ever read. Do take some time to check it out.

And also take some time to read through Braided—a community for women anglers, founded by graphic designer, world traveler and pro photojournalist Kami Swingle. www.braidedflyfish.com. There is a lot of great writing and imagery there… something for anglers of all levels and interests. And it’s all very neatly rooted in conscience.
