Spring Clean Up Day, coordinated by the Rotary Club of Jackson Hole, is a community tradition in Jackson Hole – a chance for community volunteers to roll up their sleeves and clean up trash and debris left behind after the snow has melted. JHTU will once again be participating and we invite members to join us in this effort, this Saturday, May 13th at 9:15!
Jay Buchner from the JHTU board will be leading the charge to collect trash along Flat Creek in Karns Meadow from the bridge on Snow King Avenue to the bridge near Staples. Volunteers are asked to meet at 9:15 at the turnoff to the new bus barn, where Snow King Avenue crosses Flat Creek. JHTU will bring trash bags and supplies from the pickup point at Phil Baux Park and will also bring garbage grabbers to pick items out of the stream. (Coffee, doughnuts, and pastries will be provided at 9:00 am at Phil Baux Park for anyone interested).
Volunteers planning to get into the stream should plan to bring waders, wading belt, hats, sunglasses, gloves (that will get wet), water, and sunscreen. For those who don’t want to get into Flat Creek, there are usually items to pick up in the grass and bushes along the stream. A free barbecue lunch for all Spring Clean Up volunteers will be held at Phil Baux Park beginning at 12:00 p.m..
Please RSVP to Jay Buchner so he has an idea on how many folks will be helping this year – jbuchner@wyoming.com or 733-4944. Thank you for volunteering to keep Jackson and Flat Creek clean!
