As noted in the video below, “cruising trout are feeding trout.” When we see pods of trout working certain stretches of the river, it’s tough to keep our cool sometimes. The prospect of an afternoon spent wandering a small stretch of river while catching several trout is pretty appealing, right?
But, as the Orvis video notes, there are ways to approach pods of feeding fish so as to actually accomplish that ultimate goal—catching more than just one of the cruisers. There’s some good advice in this short video that will help you make your next encounter with a pod of cruising fish more than just a one-and-done event. Pay particular attention to the need to keep hooked from from spooking the entire pod. It’s good advice.
