The area around Fernie, B.C., is a trout fisher’s paradise. I had the good fortune to visit last summer, and strategizing for a September visit this year. For big cutthroats on dry flies and the chance for double-digit bull trout, this place is likely the best on earth.
Above, Todd Moen of Catch Magazine chronicles a fall adventure for bull trout with local guide Beckie Clarke who clearly appreciates this angling destination for what it is. As she tangles with big bull trout, I get the itch to get on the trip planning. It’s one of the few places where the fishing is just as good as it looks in one of Todd’s films.
I might have to make the trip sooner than I thought.
