I love the old-school feel of today’s New Fly Fisher videos. And the short film below is a great all-around tutorial on tackling trout (and bass, frankly) fishing in moving water. Using southern Ontario’s Grand River as a backdrop, host Bill Spicer chases fish with proven guides that have a lot of great information for anglers trying to demystify fishy water for the first time.
Trout and smallmouth bass fishing in moving water are remarkably similar, particularly when you’re casting streamers. The Grand River is a Canadian fish factory home to everything from Lake Erie steelhead, rainbow and brown trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass, pike and even catfish. It’s a great place to learn about all fly-fishing disciplines, as Bill points out.
Check it out, and see if you don’t learn a thing or two.
